Terrace Transformation

Elevating Outdoor Spaces

The terrace begins with the ground. Reclaimed limestone paving, laid in a French pattern of mixed sizes, runs the full width of the space and out towards the water, its gray and honey tones shifting stone by stone. Elsewhere the paving turns to irregular hexagonal cobbles, cut and worn until no two faces match. Against a limestone garden wall an outdoor fireplace is built in antique stone, a carved frieze set beneath a tapered hood above a herringbone firebox. A wall fountain carries a fish spout carved by hand between scrolled stone wings, spilling into a long trough of solid limestone. At the courtyard side a square stone basin gathers around a central column topped by a carved lion head urn, ringed by the same paving that started the story.
